Team CoolDrive looking to improve in Townsville

7 Jul, 2015

After a tough debut in a new chassis at Darwin two weeks ago, Team CoolDrive is looking for improved results heading to Townsville this weekend for races 16 and 17 at the Castrol Edge Townsville 400.

Identifying a number of areas for improvement, Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport has worked tirelessly under the careful eye of Team Manager Barry Hay to improve the performance and reliability of the #3 Holden Commodore before this weekend.

Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport’s other Commodore driven by Nick Percat is coming off a season best performance in Darwin after finishing 6th in Sundays race. That result has given the whole team confidence that the potential is there to compete strongly inside the top 10.

There is also a change in format this weekend, with a longer 200km race Saturday instead of the shorter 60km races seen most of this season. The race on Sunday will remain 200kms meaning there will be much more strategy involved across the weekend as teams manage more pit stops and tyres.

Here is what Team CoolDrive’s driver Tim Blanchard had to say leading into this weekend:

“We weren’t happy with our results in Darwin so we are looking forward to the opportunity to redeem ourselves in what is always a very tough race meeting in Townsville.”

“The team continues to develop and Nick did a fantastic job in Darwin demonstrating the potential of this team, we are confident that top 10 results are just around the corner.”

“Similar to Darwin, Townsville is an event everyone looks forward to, great weather and the whole city gets right behind the event, giving it a fantastic atmosphere.”

“How tough this event is cannot be underestimated. They are long races, usually in hot temperatures around a street circuit. Similar to Clipsal and Gold Coast, coming home from this round with strong results is quite difficult!”
