Red Dot Celebrates 50 Years

CoolDrive congratulate Red Dot as July 2015 is the 50^th Anniversary of business operation. Maintaining a successful business is always a challenge, and we all know how difficult it is to exist for several years, let alone 50 years. It takes great products, a commitment to customers, and business partners who share high service values.

As distributors of Red Dot products, CoolDrive and Red Dot together, acknowledge that our Australian customers have played a huge part in Red Dots success and long Gevity.

Red Dot traces its beginnings to the Aftermarket sector, when founder Harky Runnings, was operating a Radiator repair shop in West Seattle and started a side line business making heaters for mail delivery trucks operating along the Alaskan Highway. The heaters were built for performance and durability in the harshest operating conditions – Harky made every heater knowing that the driver’s life might depend on it.

Harky’s reputation grew and heating / cooling trucks was soon his main business activity. He incorporated Red Dot in 1965 with a plan to develop heating and air conditioning product specifically for heavy duty vehicles and off-highway equipment.

Red Dot produced many industry firsts under Harky’s leadership, including the Trinary pressure switch, low profile rooftop condensers, air operated water valves and vent doors, the grilldenser and ProTech A/C compressor protection and system diagnostics.
