Far North Queensland has trumped the rest of Australasia in the annual CoolDrive Branch of the Year Awards.
Big winners were CoolDrive Townsville, which won the annual W.J. Blanchard Branch of the Year award for branches with turnover greater than $5 million, beating the Acacia Ridge (Brisbane) branch into second place.
And CoolDrive Cairns, which won the inaugural S.L. Blanchard Branch of the Year award for branches with turnover under $5 million, edging out the Albury branch.
Both Townsville Branch Manager Angela Cannon and Cairns Branch Manager Brett Schneider were on hand at the announcement, in front of 250 guests, at the recent celebratory dinner in Melbourne to mark CoolDrive’s 40 years in business.
Townsville’s performance was particularly notable as the branch had to overcome a difficult 12 months operating out of containers, as its warehouse was demolished to construct a new one, double the size.
Despite that, sales continued to grow during that period.
“Wow, I don’t know what to say. This is an amazing result, I am very proud of everyone in my team, this is very unexpected especially after the operational challenges we’ve had,” an emotional Angela Cannon said.
“CoolDrive is like one big family, I love being a part of it and working with everyone across the business. It’s tough times in Townsville right now, so I am proud also of our community.”
CoolDrive’s Branch of the Year awards are based on a number of criteria measuring the performance of its branches in Australia and New Zealand, including against sales budgets and other criteria the company considers key to a high performing business.
“It’s amazing to think that the two top Branch award winners came from the same area. I don’t think that’s happened before,” General Manager – Marketing Tim Blanchard said.
“Congratulations to the management and staff at Townsville and Cairns, and right across our branch network, the award outcomes were very close and there were many contenders.”
The W.J. Blanchard and S.L. Blanchard awards are named after the husband-and-wife founders of CoolDrive, who were at the 40th Anniversary Dinner to witness the Branch of the Year presentations.
