THE RECAP

Recap Yesterday’s penultimate race of the 2018 season had Supercar fans on the edge of their seats; and everyone knew they would be in for one hell of a finale today. The stunning backdrop of Newcastle was all set for the championship to be decided, and for Tim’s final full-time Supercars race.

The team burned the midnight oil repairing the Team CoolDrive Supercar after Tim’s run-in with Fabian Coulthard during yesterday’s 250km race.

Tim qualified the Team CoolDrive Supercar in 19th. During the race Simona De Silvestro and Tim made contact, when they both tried to overtake each other through the ‘staircase’ section of the circuit, one after the other, and both received a penalty for the moves. This put Tim back in 22nd position where he finished the race. Not the result we were hoping for, for Tim’s final Supercar full-time race.

Scott McLaughlin was declared the 2018 Supercars Champion; his first ever championship title.

Team CoolDrive are excited for the next chapter ahead, as Tim Blanchard Racing and Brad Jones Racing continue to work together in 2019.

THE WORD FROM TIM

“Today’s race wasn’t as strong as we would have liked, but after yesterday we’re pretty happy to have finished this one.”

“It’s been a really strange weekend finishing my full-time driving career. I really want to thank all the team at BJR, the fans who have sent messages, and all the people in pit lane who have reached out to wish me well on the next chapter in my racing career. I’ll see everyone back on the grid for the endurance cup in 2019!”
