Action Auto Electrics, still going strong!

19 Sep, 2014

In an age where one in three Queensland Businesses fail, despite the nation trend of growth, it is inspiring to see a Queensland family business celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Action Auto Electrics began trading in 1974 in a small workshop in Holt Street, Eagle Farm; the year that saw the worst flooding in Queensland History, Elton John hit the top ten with Bennie and the Jets and US president Nixon forced to resign after the Watergate scandal.

Action Auto Electrics, one of the largest Auto Electrical workshops in Queensland is proud to say it’s a Queensland business.  Serving national and government customers such as Linfox, Toll/NQX, Queensland Fire and Rescue, Boral, and Energex, Action Auto Electrics is a true local success story.

Geoff Anderson the managing Director has seen many changes to the industry as heavy equipment becomes increasingly electronic. The business now has 27 staff and is located at a specialist workshop in Pinkenba that is able to cater for the largest and heaviest of vehicles.

Just like CoolDrive, Action Auto Electrics is truly an Australian family owned business with Geoff’s son Geoff’s son Deryck joining the business in 2011.

Geoff invests heavily into his staff, with all technicians being qualified auto elects and is providing training currently for three apprentices through MTAQ, as well as an ongoing relationship with the Royal Australian Army, where Army apprentices are able to work in his workshop as part of their training requirements.

Action Auto Electrics has been a proud proponent of the transport industry in Queensland and understands the importance of ‘keeping trucks on the road’. The escalating costs of downtime of transport companies has driven the business to expand to ensure it can provide the most efficient and cost effective service for its customers.

The 40 year anniversary was celebrated in style with a relaxed BBQ at the Pinkenba workshop followed by a more formal private function held at Rydges Hotel in Brisbane.

Sadly in an age where we seldom celebrate the success of local business it is good to hear of such an event. From one Australian family owned business to another, CoolDrive would like to congratulate Action Auto Electrics on such a huge achievement and look forward to working together for another 40 years.
