Grant Hand with Mark Mitchell

R1234yf operating characteristics and handling techniques

Top automotive climate control trainer Grant Hand and VASA director Mark Mitchell will present a detailed session on the operating characteristics and handling techniques of R1234yf, the new class 2L refrigerant. A detailed review of the refrigerant’s enthalpy properties in comparison to R134a will provide a practical understanding of its characteristics and on-vehicle training will use a dedicated R1234yf system along with the relevant gauges, evacuation unit, proprietary cylinder and fittings.

Peter Stubley

Deep cycle batteries and solar

VASA director and TAFE teacher Peter Stubley brings you up to speed on the characteristics of deep cycle batteries including discharge, recharge and state of charge. Dual battery systems will also be covered, including DC to DC chargers, MPPT voltage regulators, calculating voltage drop and correct cable selection. Peter will also explain what solar panels really produce, peak sun hours and how to design systems for electrical self-sufficiency.

Brett Meads

From Freud to Fleetwood Mac

VASA Vice President Brett Meads will provide insights into the psychology of business in the automotive industry. Focus on your customer and your paycheque will look after itself.

Air conditioning basics

To complement the other training on offer at Wire & Gas, Brett Meads and Peter Stubley will provide an optional theory refresher course for those interested in getting their understanding of automotive air conditioning fundamentals up to scratch.
