CoolDrive Expands Engine Management with AFI Acquisition

4 Jul, 2016

CoolDrive Distribution is cementing its position in the engine management sector, with the acquisition of Sydney-based business, Australian Fuel Injection (AFI).

AFI is a specialist supplier of automotive electronic, fuel injection, engine management and ignition system components and also stocks common rail diesel injection products to suit a wide range of vehicles and applications.

As of 1 July 2016, AFI’s three branches – Sydney, Brisbane and Perth – will become part of the CoolDrive business.

When combined with last month’s acquisition of the Engine Management Parts Division of Automotive Services Solutions (ASS), the AFI purchase means that CoolDrive is well positioned to become the market leader in this specialised area.

“We are very thrilled to be making our presence known in the engine management industry as we have always viewed it as a growth opportunity for the CoolDrive business,” John Blanchard, CEO & Managing Director, CoolDrive Distribution said.

“There is significant crossover between AFI and CoolDrive Distribution’s customers and suppliers, as well as a few exciting new ones.

“From our side, making AFI’s extensive product range available to CoolDrive’s 24 branch network will help expand and grow our Engine Management Programme.

“It is also pleasing that Nick Rassios, the current owner of AFI, will remain part of the team to help drive the business forward as Divisional Manager.”

The AFI acquisition marks CoolDrive’s third in Australia this year, following on from the recent purchases of ASS and AME Products as well as expansion into New Zealand with two branches in as many months.

This significant growth has seen CoolDrive increase its direct presence in Australia and New Zealand with its branches now numbering 24.

“This has been a major six months for CoolDrive with the execution of key strategic moves including the introduction of Narva to our product range, the opening of branches in New Zealand and now consolidating ourselves as a major player in the Engine Management market,” Mr Blanchard continued.

“The local aftermarket industry is changing, which calls for businesses to be progressive.  Through these achievements over these past six months, we believe we have made significant steps to help the continual growth of the CoolDrive business.

“Furthermore, there are still a number of other key initiatives that we hope to roll out before the end of the year.”
