THE WORD FROM TIM
Rain was always on the agenda at Pukekohe today, and with rain setting in heavily for qualifying, the session was delayed, then eventually cancelled as the wet conditions were making the track impossible for drivers to navigate. Grid positions were determined by the combined practice session times from yesterday, which saw Tim start from 23rd for todays’ 200km race. The rain cleared before the race, yet the track was still sketchy in a number of spots, so drivers were cautious in the opening laps of the race. There were many battle packs throughout, and Tim moved forward to finish the race in 19th position. Tim “I battled with the car a little bit today, we were expecting a wet race and our cars have been quite strong in the wet over the last few rounds.” “We made up some ground on a couple of peoples mistakes here, but at this kind of level there are not too many of those.” “We’ve got a bit of work to do, we need to be more competitive rather than just hang in there with the group. It’s really hard to pass here and you get a fair bit of aero wash when you’re close behind someone, so it can be a bit of follow the leader when you get in a racing queue like that. Hopefully we can make some improvements to get that car speed we need for tomorrow and qualify in a better position.”
