Tim qualified just inside the top 20, in 19th position. Times were tight again, as Tim was only a sheer half a second off the pole-sitter Scott McLaughlin. Team CoolDrive kept Tim out for a longer first stint, a strategy that many went with today. Tim was pushed wide on lap 31 of 40 and was stuck in the sand trap which brought out the one and only safety car. Tim was able to re-join and finish the 120km race, crossing the line in 24th position. The Winton event wraps up tomorrow, with another qualifying session and a final 200km race. TIM “I’m pretty disappointed with the results today. In terms of strategy we opted to do the late stop and we should have popped out better than where we did. We had issues again in the pit stop so it was nowhere near as quick as it should have been.” “Getting run off the road by Simona and getting caught in the sand trap with only ten laps to go was not how we wanted our day to end. Hopefully tomorrow we can get through the race incident free.”
