Racer Industries Shines at MotorEx

1 Jul, 2023

The chilly Melbourne winter weekend didn't dampen the spirits of the 20,000 passionate car enthusiasts and industry experts who attended MotorEx 21. CoolDrive Auto Parts’ Performance & Racing brand, Racer Industries, joined 200 automotive brands in showcasing their cutting-edge products.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, attendees were eager to see the 800-plus exceptional cars and numerous products on display. The highlight of Racer Industries' weekend was the unveiling of Australia's newest drag-and-drive competition car, Stripshow!

Built by the team at MPW Performance & Race fab, this 1970 Mk1 Ford Capri boasts a 3,000hp twin-turbo 596ci Brodix big block. The turbos used in this application are Pulsar GT57 98mm. The engine is backed up with a 2-speed turbo 400 transmission, making the goal of a 6-second 1/4 mile pass in a street-registered car achievable.

One of MPW's major focuses was safety. The owner of Stripshow, Adam Rogash, stepped out of the drag world and looked at what other motorsport disciplines were using, which led him to Racer Industries and their range of high-performance products. Stripshow utilises Racetech seats, a Woodward steering column, Tilton pedal box, Lifeline fire system, and the newest brand to their range, MPI (Max Papis Innovations) drag steering wheel. MPW found these products to be of higher standards, simpler to use, and install than other products being used in the drag racing community. CoolDrive’s Performance Category Manager - Richard Janssen, and Performance Business Development Manager, Mathew Nilsson are confident that this relationship with MPW will open up Racer Industries products to new motoring enthusiasts’ markets.

The second highlight for the Racer Industries brand was the launch of the exclusive Australian distribution for MPI - Max Papis Innovations. MPI was founded in 2009 by Max Papis and Tatiana Fittipaldi Papis. Max has been a professional race car driver since he was 12 years old and has raced in various motorsports disciplines, including Formula 1, ChampCar, IndyCar, IMSA, Grand-Am, IROC, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Max was at MotorEx for the public launch of MPI in Australia and was excited to be part of the unveiling of the Ford Capri utilising his wheel. MPI also kindly supplied a one-of-a-kind Aussie flag wheel that was given to a lucky winner, who will install it in his early Holden.

Showcased exclusively on the Racer Industries stand was MPI’s performance products, including its proven steering wheels and hubs, racing gloves, racing seats and a host of accessories and merchandise. Other performance and racing products from global brands including Tilton, Woodward Steering, Lifeline Fire, Sparco, RaceParts UK, Joes & Longacre, NRG, Project-Mu, Aerocatch and Teknofibra were also on display.

Overall, the weekend was a success for the Racer Industries brand, opening the door for CoolDrive Auto Parts’ Performance range to move into new markets and extend its offering.
