CoolDrive Announce V8 Supercar Naming Rights Deal

24 Feb, 2015

TEAM COOLDRIVE V8 SUPERCAR PROGRAM LAUNCHED

CoolDrive has announced a naming rights partnership with Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport, to contest the 2015 V8 Supercar season.

‘Team CoolDrive’ will be headed up by young charger Tim Blanchard, making his return to the sport’s premier division after a debut V8 Supercar season with Dick Johnson Racing in 2013.

Blanchard’s ‘Team CoolDrive’ Holden Commodore made its debut at the SuperTest at Sydney Motor Sport Park in early February, before its season livery is revealed ahead of the first round of the 2015 Championship, in Adelaide at the end of the month.

Confirmation of the new program underlines the importance of motorsport to CoolDrive’s company culture.

Tim Blanchard steps aboard the LDM Commodore for the 2015 season after a stellar performance for the team co-driving Russell Ingall in last year’s Endurance Cup.

“Having worked with LDM last year and seeing the enormous change they’ve undertaken since then in terms of staffing and resources, I am very excited about the prospects for this year,” Tim Blanchard said.

“It’s a team determined to improve its performance, I think I am joining them at the right time and I am looking forward to taking the CoolDrive brand to the sharp end of the field.”

Along with the new ‘Team CoolDrive’ V8 Supercar program, CoolDrive continues to support the Phillip Island Classic and other Victorian Historic Racing Register (VHRR) events, and the Island Magic Formula Ford race.

Promising young karter Simon Fallon is also sponsored by CoolDrive, contesting the Victorian Karting series.

Many of CoolDrive’s staff are also personally involved in the sport at different levels, as well as with car clubs involved in collecting and showing significant vehicles.

Others are four-wheel-drive enthusiasts or simply maintain a ‘weekend car’ for the enjoyment of motoring.

“Motorsport has been an intrinsic part of the CoolDrive business since its inception,” CoolDrive Marketing Manager John Phair said.

“It’s the perfect platform to promote our brand and to demonstrate the performance and quality of our products, and it speaks directly to our customers … the majority of whom are interested in the sport in one form or another.

“That’s why it’s important to have an involvement at the professional end of the sport, through V8 Supercars, but equally also in Historic Racing, hillclimbs, rallying and the many other forms of the sport.”

Tim Blanchard is a former runner up in the V8 Supercar Development Series (DVS) and winner of the ‘Mike Kable Young Gun Award’ for the year’s most promising young driver.
