Craig Lowndes Continues to Rely on SACHS
30 Mar, 2015
Australian motorsport icon Craig Lowndes will continue to rely on SACHS shock absorbers and clutches in season 2015, with the three-time V8 Supercars Champion signing on for a third successive year as the official ambassador for the brand in Australia.
Over the past 11 seasons, Lowndes has relied exclusively on SACHS shock absorbers and clutches in his Triple 8 Race Engineering prepared V8 Supercars, with the combination proving to be incredibly successful.
Together, SACHS and Lowndes have claimed a total of 45 V8 Supercars Championship race victories, including four Bathurst 1000 titles, with Lowndes this year looking to earn his 100th career race victory.
Not only does Lowndes depend on SACHS components in his Red Bull Racing Australia Holden Commodore, but the team’s truck and transporter are fitted with shock absorbers from the wide SACHS’ commercial vehicle range.
The partnership with Lowndes sees SACHS branding placed on the highly visible visor of his distinctive helmet, as well on his driving suit.
For Lowndes the ambassadorship is a natural fit, both on and off the race track.
"Over the years I have had a lot of success with SACHS products on track, and have had a great relationship with the brand away from it," Lowndes said.
"Shock absorbers are one of the most crucial tuning devices on a V8 Supercar, ensuring maximum performance and prolonged tyre life; they are a component you really have to have a lot of trust in.
“The success we have had on the track comes off the back of a lot of testing, research and development, and what we learn in motorsport flows into the road car applications.
"Not only is SACHS an original supplier to manufacturers worldwide, including local Australian-built vehicles, the SACHS range of replacement shock absorbers now covers 95 percent of cars on the road in Australia.
“In the past three years, awareness of SACHS products has definitely picked up, and it’s a brand I’m proud to be associated with.”
The 2015 V8 Supercars Championship features 15 events, starting at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, through to the season-ending Sydney 500 in December.
