THE RECAP & WORD FROM TIM
Fans have waited over twenty years to see the Supercars race again under lights on their home soil; and last night’s inaugural Sydney SuperNight event did not disappoint with 34,000 fans trackside plus over a million more tuning into their TV’s to watch the 300km spectacle. Tim was one of the biggest movers of the night, fighting through the field to make up a whopping 9 spots to finish 16th. TIM
“It was pretty cool to run under lights here at Sydney Motorsport Park. The track is well lit, so you can see enough of the important parts of the track like braking and apex markers, but it’s not lit enough that it’s no different to the daytime. It’s a good mix of light and dark, so seeing all the lights flashing as you go around is awesome. The fans loved it and we’ve already had so much great feedback from those that tuned in to watch, it has been a great event.”
“We sacrificed a little bit at the start of the weekend in practice and qualifying to ensure we had good tyres for the 300km race. Our strategy in that respect worked pretty well. We didn’t quite maximise our first stop as we came out behind a battle pack and that compromised our race a bit. If we came out in front we would have been able to use the tyre a bit more. We managed that in the other stops; got out in clean air and worked it to our benefit to move forward. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the weekend.” COMING UP
