Tim got a great start to the race but any chance of him bettering yesterdays’ charge forward was short lived. On the first lap he got hit at the hairpin by Winterbottom who was trying to make his way past Tim, in a gap that wasn’t quite there. The damage to the front of the Team CoolDrive Supercar required Tim to pit for repairs which sent him multiple laps down, effectively ending his race. In a race that saw no safety cars and every car finish, Tim crossed the line n 26th. The Jason Richards Memorial Trophy was awarded to Scott McLaughlin. The Supercars will land back on Australian shores at the end of the week; then the preparations will begin for the final round of the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship – the Coates Hire Newcastle 500. TIM “It was pretty disappointing to have our race finish so soon after it started. I feel like Winterbottom saw a gap to pass me, but he wasn’t going to make it around the hairpin without hitting me. He somehow thought he’d try make it work but it’s taken me out in the process and broken my steering.” “The guys and girls on the team did a great job to repair the CoolDrive car, but then you’re just out there circulating, trying to salvage minimal points. Not how we wanted to end our Pukekohe weekend.” COMING UP The 16th and final round of the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship The Coates Hire Newcastle 500 23 – 25 November 2018 Newcastle Street Circuit, New South Wales CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS 1 – Scott McLaughlin - 3656
