THE RECAP & WORD FROM TIM / DALE

With rain marring the practice sessions again today, it saw a lot of teams opt to limit their laps on track today.
 
The rain cleared for qualifying, which saw drivers get their first chance at running on a dry circuit. The 40-minute qualifying session saw drivers pushing their supercars to the limits, with many taking off track excursions. Jack Le Brocq ran off at turn one bringing out the red flag. With only 9 minutes left on the clock in qualifying, it allowed everyone to catch their breath and then it was a shootout style finish to the session, with all drivers having to give it that one final shot to make it through to the shootout. Tim qualified in 22^nd, so he and Dale will be aiming to charge forward from here on Sunday over the 1000km battle.

“Qualifying was the only time so far this week where we have had the chance to drive these cars in dry conditions. It was quite an interesting session, as for a lot of us we haven’t been sure exactly what to expect out of our cars. Driving in the wet conditions is totally different, so we haven’t had that chance to push these cars and fine tune them how we need.”

“Dale completed the first practice session of the day, and he was fast. Everyone was cautious not to get the cars offline as one slip could be costly, as a couple of guys saw. The drizzle in that session was not enough to make the track worse, but it was a continuous slippery circuit out there. You can’t find what you need when the conditions aren’t good like that, which makes it tough for everyone.”

“We’ll need to make the most of the final practice session tomorrow then work on the car to make sure we can be consistent and fast over the 1000km come Sunday.”
