Tim Blanchard / Dale Wood: 18th THE RECAP & WORD FROM TIM / DALE
Over 206,000 people walked through the gates to the famous Mount Panorama circuit this weekend, the second biggest attendance on record, and a peak audience of over 5 million tuned in to watch the greatest race of the year – The Bathurst 1000. Dale started the race in the Team CoolDrive Commodore from 22nd position. The 161 lap battle required a constant effort to move through the field and the duo did just that. However on the half way mark; under safety car, the front splitter failed, forcing the team to make a quick trip to the garage to fix the damage. The team worked quickly to repair the damage and send Dale back out, however they just went a lap down. Team CoolDrive needed a safety car (or two!) to regain the lap and fight for track position again. Tim & Dale didn’t get the crucial safety cars they needed to regain the lap, as today’s race was the fastest Bathurst 1000 on record at only 6 hours and 4 minutes. The duo still managed to move forward and finished in 18th overall. Not the ideal result but always an achievement to cross the line at this sometimes harsh and unforgiving circuit.
