THE RECAP AND WORD FROM MACAULEY
The Mustangs continued to show their dominance at Phillip Island this weekend, and no matter how hard the Holden teams tried to hunt them down, they were not successful in putting a stop to the Shell V-Power Racing Team’s dominant weekend.
For Team CoolDrive’s Macauley Jones, the weekend was a continuous improvement. He scored his best result of the season so far, with an 18th placing during Saturday’s race, followed by a 21st in Sunday’s race, and overall was happy with how the car improved over the course of the weekend. The team have always classed the picturesque Island circuit as one of the harder tracks for the team to tackle, and for some of the other dominant teams like Triple Eight, the results showed that the usual leaders were also having their battles.
After the two back to back events, the team now get a short break before heading to Perth for the SuperNight event.
MACAULEY JONES
“We’d worked on the car all weekend to improve the balance and rear grip. The opening practice sessions left a lot to be desired, but we’ve just kept chipping away at it and the balance has certainly improved as the weekend progressed. I feel like the car improved session on session.”
“We had a result of 18th on Saturday which was the best result of the season so far, it’s something we want to improve on and be getting those results and better, more often. For Sunday’s race, I had a lot of understeer which made it really hard to pass out there.”
