Blanchard Returns To The Grid17 Apr, 2019 Tim Blanchard will be back on the Supercars grid as he lines up as a wild card entry for the Pirtek Perth SuperNight event.Blanchard, who retired from full-time racing at the end of last season has taken on more of the team owner role this year, attending each event so far this season and overseeing the operations side of Team CoolDrive. With Blanchard looking ahead to the Pirtek Endurance Cup season, he is eager to get as much time behind the wheel of a Supercar as possible; taking part in the pre-season test day and the additional driver session in Tasmania. When the opportunity arose for Tim to take part in the SuperNight event as a wildcard, Tim jumped at the chance to do so, knowing it will give him valuable time in the drivers’ seat. “I am looking forward to stepping back into the Supercar series in Perth. The night race was heaps of fun last year, so I expect it to be just as big this year.” “Stepping down from full-time racing last year was a big decision for me, but I still enjoy racing at this level, so I was always keen to stay involved in a driving capacity; through the Pirtek Endurance Cup or any other opportunities that arose like this.” “Our expectations for the weekend are realistic; we have put a great crew together which is a mix of new and old crew from the workshop, so I am confident we’ll have a successful weekend. It’ll be a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel!” “Supercar fans will be expecting me back in Team CoolDrive colours, but we’ve been working behind the scenes and will be revealing something totally different for the Perth SuperNight event. Watch this space.” Tim will be driving BJR-006, the Holden ZB Commodore which Jack Smith drove as a wild card entry at the Tasmania SuperSprint event earlier this month. A sponsor announcement and livery for Tim will be revealed in the coming weeks… Expect the unexpected!Stay tuned to our Facebook page CoolDrive Auto Parts for updates on Tim & Team CoolDrive! |
