Team CoolDrive Tasmania SuperSprint Supercars Preview

Macauley Jones is set to make his Supercars debut at the Tyrepower Tasmania event this weekend.
However, he is no stranger to the Symmons Plains circuit having competed here in the Super2 Series in previous years. Macauley claimed a 6th, 4th and 3rd last year, narrowly missing the podium, finishing 4th overall for the weekend.
The new qualifying format which was introduced at this event last year is back! Based on practice times, drivers will be competing again in a three-part knock-out qualifying system on both Saturday and Sunday.
To make things more interesting for teams and fans alike, cars will be placed under parc-ferme conditions at the end of qualifying, until the start of the next race. Teams will be restricted to doing basic prep work on the cars, only being able to check tyre pressures, maintain cool suits etc. This means teams will have to set up their cars to be able to tackle both qualifying and the race ahead. Supercars are hoping this change will shake up the order and provide teams with a new challenge. This parc-ferme rule will be run as a trial for the Symmons Plains event.
