Team CoolDrive Battles in Europe
17 Apr, 2020
RACE FOUR – SILVERSTONE TIME – 7:15pm LAPS - 7 MACCA FINISHED – Position 21st WINNER – Anton De Pascale RECAP – We headed to Europe for Round Two of the Supercars All Stars Eseries. First up, two races at Silverstone before heading to Barcelona for a further two races to round out the night. Macca missed qualifying for the race after some computer issues - forcing him to start at the back of the pack. With the shortest race of the night Macca climbed his way up to finish the first race of the night in p21. RACE FIVE – SILVERSTONE TIME – 7:39pm LAPS - 9 MACCA FINISHED – Position 26th WINNER – Cameron Waters RECAP – The reverse grid race is always an entertaining one to watch and this was no different! There was the predictable carnage on the opening lap with too many incidents to count. Macca started on the 3rd row off the start line but sadly however sustained huge damage in the carnage. The bad luck continued, and Macca was off again on lap two. After coming in to pit on lap 6, Macca had a big shunt with Scotty McLaughlin and that pushed him down the back of the pack. With severe damage to the Team CoolDrive Racing Commodore, Macca bought it home in p26. RACE SIX – BARCELONA TIME – 8:11pm LAPS - 8 MACCA FINISHED – Position 19th WINNER – Shane Van Gisbergen RECAP – Now we were off to Barcelona and it was a great sight to see the virtual Supercars on this popular F1 track. Starting from P21, Macca got a clean start off the line and showed stronger pace throughout the race before becoming an innocent victim of yet another shunt, finally crossing the finish line in p19. RACE SEVEN – BARCELONA TIME – 8:35pm LAPS - 11 MACCA FINISHED – Position 24th WINNER – Shane van Gisbergen RECAP – It was another huge spectacle of virtual damage and destruction for the final race of the night with cars going off everywhere at the start! Macca’s bad luck continued after getting involved in a huge shunt, sending Macca back to the pits for repair and losing a heap of (virtual) time. The CoolDrive Commodore finished the 11-lap race around Barcelona-Catalunya in position 24. Let’s hope for less carnage when we head to Bathurst next week! THE WORD FROM MACCA “That round was very hard! I had big computer problems at the start with my screens and could not do the quali session. I had technical issues throughout the night so that’s never ideal and something new we have to work with. The level of racing has stepped up which is good, and I did enjoy racing on the two tracks. They’re fast and have good overtaking corners. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t my night and very frustrating to be honest. I hope I can get some better results at Bathurst. Thanks to everyone for tuning in!” COMING UP ROUND THREE WEDNESDAY 22ND APRIL MOUNT PANORAMA – BATHURST
