QUALIFYING RECAP

Another solid run from Macca, finishing the first part of the qualifying session in 8th, which worked out to be 18th when combined with the second part of qualifying and the top 10 shootout. The Team CoolDrive Commodore was all set for a big second race around the streets of Adelaide.

RACE 2 / 78 LAPS

TIME: 15:20

CONDITIONS: Sunny, warm

FINISHED:19th

WINNER: Scott McLaughlin

RACE RECAP:

There was drama right at the start of the race when Macca and the Team CoolDrive Commodore almost became innocent victims of a multi-car collision at turn 9 at the end of the straight. There was damage to the car but Macca soldiered on, only to lose communication with the pitlane – a serious disadvantage as the car could not be tuned through the race as it normally would. At the end of the race a brush of the wall and two extra stops lost Macca valuable time and positions.

THE WORD FROM BRAD JONES

‘With the radio not working it really made it difficult for the team. When you can’t communicate with your crew and they can’t communicate with you it would have been very frustrating for the team. It’s character building stuff and at least we come out of this in better shape than last year when we had the big accident. We look forward to the next one.’
