CoolDrive Racing Reveals Eseries Squad

10 Aug, 2021

CoolDrive Racing has unveiled its two driver line-up for the upcoming Cash Converters Eseries, with quick Kiwi Matthew Payne set to be joined by Josh Anderson.

With regular Supercars driver Tim Slade unable to compete, Payne steps up to fill the All Star seat in the hybrid format competition, following an impressive tin-top switch this season after a highly successful grounding in go karts.

Driving for Earl Bamber Motorpsort in the Carrera Cup Australia Series, he has registered two pole positions and three podiums in the three rounds contested to date.

Payne’s breakthrough win in the category came in the most recent race contested on the streets of Townsville.

Earlier in the year, Payne claimed victory in the super-competitive Toyota Racing Series, with five wins from nine races.

Never off the podium, he finished third in the New Zealand Grand Prix at Hampton Downs behind Supercars stars Shane van Gisbergen and Andre Heimgartner.

“I’m really excited to join CoolDrive Racing for the Eseries; Sim racing is an important part to our development these days, I am looking forward to the chance of representing CoolDrive Racing and SP Tools in a competitive environment like the Supercars Eseries,” said Payne.

Anderson, meanwhile, will be filling the Pro Gamer role for the squad, although he is no stranger to real-life racing either.

Since 2018, Anderson has registered 16 podium finishes in the ever-competitive Aussie Racing Car Series, with three wins this season split between the Symmons Plains and Sydney Motorsport Park events.

He has also dabbled in the SuperUtes category, while in recent times, he has been relying on sim racing for his motorsport fix.

“I’m pumped to be joining the Supercar Eseries again; I want to build on what I learnt last year and focus on getting some great results with CoolDrive Racing,” said Anderson.

The six-round series is based on the popular iRacing platform and features a $26,500 prize pool for the Pro Gamer portion of the Championship, with $10,000 going to the ultimate series victor.

The Eseries will be broadcast live weekly via Fox Sports, Kayo, 7Plus, and the Supercars social media channels from Wednesday 25 August, while the second round will be filmed inside the CoolDrive Racing workshop on Wednesday 1 September.
